The Evening of Ebony Elegance Debutante Cotillion Ball is a dazzling evening of dining, dancing, debutantes and dignitaries filling the observers eye with beauty and pride.

For 16 years the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Minerva Foundation have been be pleased to biennially offer the Debutante Cotillion Ball as a premier social event in the African-American community and the primary fundraising activity in support of our community service programs.

During the ball, debutantes are awarded scholarships based on the dollars raised and several young ladies are selected for special recognitions. At the highlight of the evening, debutantes are presented to society under the guidance of our Cotillion Chairwomen.   Adding to the symbolism, elegance and élan of the evening are a contingent of distinguished african-american young men who the debutantes carefully select to serve as their escorts. Both groups are recognized for their individual achievements and as bright rising stars in the african-american community. Signaling the conclusion of the Cotillion, the debutantes and honored guests and dignitaries lead the stately Grand Waltz.

With us, this time-honored tradition is more than just a coming out.  Instead, an exacting regime of community service and personal improvement precedes that night of elegance.  As such, the young ladies that express a desire to participate and who are subsequently accepted participate in a number of preceding events—including a Mother-Daughter luncheon, HBCU college tour, and attend workshops in etiquette, interview techniques, and other topics. In addition they will enjoy a Debutante Lock-in,  attend cultural activities, and - as a demonstration of commitment to social responsibility- the girls will plan and implement a community service project before begriming their waltz instructions and final preparations for their society debut.

Our debutantes will enjoy many special times spent together during  the 2008 debutante season.  In so doing, they build lasting memories as well as the polished confidence and grace of a lady.
