Legacy Giving Initiative

Kick-Off of Legacy Giving Initiative 2/6/2021 – 12/31/2021

To commemorate the 35th Chapter Anniversary and honor 35 years of MRAC’s service to the community, the “Legacy Giving Initiative” was created as a meaningful financial legacy of funds designated for more scholarships and to make a stronger impact in the community by extending our reach. Our goal is $70K. We invite all sorors, family, and friends of MRAC to pledge an amount of their choosing to be paid over a period of 10 months (February 2021 – December 2021).

Acts of Service

Since its founding in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has clearly distinguished itself as a public service organization that boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans. Over the past 35 years, MRAC has impacted its service area by providing a wide range of programs addressing education, health, international development, and the strengthening of the African American family. To commemorate 35 years of service, we are asking sorors to participate in a special sponsored service project each month between February and October 2021.

Thank you for participating in the United Way Shoebox Project.  We collected 1,057 shoe boxes as of  4/3.  We are 293 shoe boxes short of our 1,350 goal.  It’s not too late to donate!  Shoe boxes can be dropped off Monday – Saturday from 9am to 5pm at Must Ministries 1280 Field Parkway Marietta, GA  30066.   Click here for more details and the items that are needed.

United Way is here to bring a virtual ray of sunshine, by providing a platform for online storytime! Volunteers, you can submit a short video  of yourself reading your favorite childhood storybook for United Way’s Learning Spaces, serving Pre-K children in Atlanta’s red zones. We encourage you to be creative and, most of all, have fun.   Click here to learn more.

Acts of K.I.S.S. (Kindness Inspiration and Support for our Sisters)

One of the sorority’s founding principles is the importance of sisterhood. In addition to celebrating “A Legacy of Service”, we also will celebrate each other!  What better way to kick off our 35th Anniversary celebration than by showing deliberate acts of kindness to our sorors beginning on the day it all be began, 2/22, our charter day!

Each week for 9 consecutive weeks, we will highlight a different  groups of sorors to show kindness towards.  Sorors are asked to post their acts of kindness via the guest app.  Click on the dates below to get suggestions on how to celebrate the sorors being honored that week.  What a wonderful way to get to know sorors in and outside of MRAC. Challenge yourself to meet at least 35 new sorors!

Click on the dates below to see how to show acts of kindness.
